This is the 2026 NDIP release

info

Please note renaming Calvera to NDIP

Summary

This year, our primary focus has been expanding NDIP capabilities: developing scientific tools and NOVA applications, integrating AI-driven workflows through Galaxy MCP, adding AmSC integration, and productionalizing the platform for Kubernetes deployments.

We also continued improving reliability through package updates, bug fixes, better tests, and more automation.

We updated Galaxy to the recent 26.1 release series and added support for Galaxy MCP. This gives NDIP a newer Galaxy base, improved authentication support, and a path for AI and agent-based integrations with Galaxy services.

The bulk of our work centered on the NOVA project, where we are developing advanced visualization tools for analyzing neutron scattering experiments.

We continued improving the NOVA Dashboard, which enables users to run interactive tools without relying on the Galaxy GUI.

Galaxy

NDIP now runs on the Galaxy 26.1 release series. Important upstream improvements in this release include faster history and notification updates through Server-Sent Events, a History Graph API for representing analysis structure, improved workflow invocation views, workflow editor activity bar updates, a redesigned upload activity, and better handling for large histories in tool forms.

We also added Galaxy MCP support. MCP provides a standard interface for connecting agent-based tools to Galaxy capabilities, including support for Galaxy's user-defined tool operations.

NDIP-specific Galaxy work in this release also includes PKCE support for PingFed login, improved metadata handling between Galaxy and Pulsar, stop-button fixes, and updated help content.

Neutron Tools

Our primary focus was on developing Trame applications and configuring them as interactive tools for NDIP. This release includes updates to TOPAZ, SANS reduction, PVViewer, Jana2020, CT Scan Visualizer, noVNC-based tools, and several NOVA and instrument simulation tools.

NOVA SDK Libraries

The NOVA SDK libraries received updates, including MVVM binding improvements, component updates, layout and navigation improvements, and workflow support.
