NOVA Dashboard
The NOVA dashboard is an interface for quickly launching tools with interactive user interfaces. It is served under
the Galaxy host at https://ndip.ornl.gov/nova (test: https://ndip-test.ornl.gov/nova), so it shares an origin with
Galaxy and uses Galaxy's login. The old hostnames nova.ornl.gov (and calvera.ornl.gov) redirect to
https://ndip.ornl.gov/.
Deployment
The dashboard runs as Helm release nova-dashboard in namespace ndip
(chart, image savannah.ornl.gov/ndip/nova-dashboard). It is
deployed by the calvera CI jobs nova-dashboard-test and nova-dashboard-k8s-prod (k8s/nova-dashboard/deploy.sh).
The /nova path is a rule on the Galaxy chart's Ingress (ingress.novaDashboard), not a separate Ingress.
On prod, k8s/galaxy/extra-routes-prod.yaml also serves /nova/tutorial (from the docs server) and redirects
/nova/sans to /small-angle-neutron-scattering.
Updating the Dashboard Version
Change image.tag in k8s/nova-dashboard/values-test.yml / values-prod.yml and run the matching job.
Changing the Deployment Environment
Non-secret settings (URLs, XCAMS/UCAMS endpoints, administrator e-mails, the Prometheus alerts URL used for its status
display) are under nova: in values-<env>.yml. Secrets are in the vault-encrypted secrets-<env>.yml (see
Deploying NDIP).
Managing the List of Tools
If you need to add or remove tools from the dashboard, then please refer to the configuration guide for tools in the developer guide.
The dashboard used to run as a Docker container on the Galaxy VMs and on nova(-test).ornl.gov, deployed by the
ornl.nova-dashboard Ansible role (jobs nova-dashboard-prod, -dev). Do not run nova-dashboard-prod: it targets
the old VM.
